With today’s look I was inspired by the pioneers, the artists and the effortlessly cool kids of America. What’s more American than double denim? (Well, technically it’s know as a ‘Canadian Tuxedo’ but still…)
Some people find double denim off-putting, garish or un-trendy. However, I think double denim never goes out of style. If done correctly. I chose to pair a light wash western shirt with a simple One Wash indigo pair of jeans. Always ensure to use contrasting denims to pull this look off!
Giving it my spin on things, I had to get a Breton stripe in there somehow – an irregular hand-drawn stripe jacket from YMC which I picked up earlier this summer and haven’t stopped wearing since! The jeans I am road testing for Levi’s, the brand new 501CT – Customized and Tapered. Due for release in February the iconic 501 straight fit jean has been updated with a tapered leg, allowing you to style it in 3 different ways: Down size for a skinnier fit, wear to True to size for a slim tapered leg or wear Up a size for a more relaxed, casual look. These are gonna be very popular with those of us who have wanted this timeless fit but have not been very keen on the straight leg-opening!
The shoes are from Converse and the sleeveless wool pea coat is from AllSaints.
What are your thoughts on double denim? Yay or Nay? Let me know!
