For Spring/Summer 2015 we see an eclectic mix of trends to update your wardrobe with. From bright statement floral prints to good old fashioned double denim. Below are styles I have chosen and given suggestions on how to incorporate into your wardrobe.
1. SCOTCH & SODA FLORAL BOMBER
Taking inspiration from traditional hibiscus Hawaiian shirts, the print is reimagined and printed onto this versatile bomber jacket. The bomber jacket continues to be a staple piece in any man’s wardrobe and this style is summer ready. I would wear it with a simple white or grey jersey t-shirt as the print is so bold and could easily become overwhelming. Team with camel or navy chino’s for a casual look.
2. PS BY PAUL SMITH JUNGLE PRINT TROUSERS
For those of you feeling brave and are in favour of statement trouser, these bad boys from Paul Smith will be a must-have this season. In a muted colour palette of navy, black and white the jungle print works perfectly as both smart and casual. For a smart style, team with a white short sleeve shirt & black loafers. For a casual look, pair with a denim jacket, simple jersey t-shirt and Converse hi-tops.
3. ALL SAINTS BOTANIC SHIRT
Inspired by vintage samples, the Botanic Shirt from All Saints is an accessible addition to your wardrobe. The washed black colour palette is a step away from the colourful neons and pastels often associated with floral prints. Wear buttoned up with faded and beaten slim jeans and camel coloured desert boots for an effortlessly cool look.
DENIM ON DENIM
The hero fabric, denim has been a part of our wardrobes for years. Whether it’s super soft chambray or rigid selvedge you really can’t layer enough this season. Take note from Levi’s and Calvin Klein ad campaigns from the 90’s!
1. LEVI’S MADE & CRAFTED WORKWEAR SHIRT
Designed in a vintage-inspired wash, this mid-weight denim shirt from denim leaders Levi’s is the perfect casual shirt to add into your wardrobe. Team with a dark wash pair of jeans for a simple entry into the trend!
2. CHEAP MONDAY LABOUR LONGLINE JACKET
For a real nod and wink to the heritage of denim and it’s workwear roots this offering from Cheap Monday is bang on trend with a 90’s vibe. Wear with a chambray shirt, indigo sweater, white jeans and Adidas Stan Smith’s for a fresh head-to-toe spin on double denim.
3. LEVI’S 501 CT
A classic re-invented. With a leg opening 2.5 inches smaller than the iconic 501, the CT (Customized and Tapered) is the perfect jean for any shape or size. How can you approach the denim trend without paying homage to Marky Mark and THAT campaign or the game-changing laundry ad from Levi’s with model Nick Kamen? Add these stone washed jeans with a simple white tee, black denim trucker jacket and Converse for a truly American denim look.
The trend that blurs the line between tailoring and gymwear is here to stay. Upgraded for 2015, sweatshirts, sweatpants and bomber jackets are reinvented in wool, silk and leather.
1. REISS 1971 GREY MARL SET
Look sporty chic by wearing the matching sweatpants and hoody from Reiss’ 1971 collection. Team with a black leather bomber jacket and black leather sneakers for a slick Scandinavian look.
2. JIGSAW MERINO WOOL BOMBER JACKET
The bomber jacket trend continues into spring/summer and this merino wool offering from Jigsaw is perfect to take you from day to night. Merino wool has a unique quality to it that regulates your body temperature and keeps you cool when you are warm and warms you up when you are feeling the cold! Pop the bomber jacket on top of Breton stripe tee, navy sweatpants and add a leather brogue for a sharp sports luxe feel.
3. WHISTLES TEXTURED SWEATSHIRT
Made using premium Italian, double faced wool blend jersey, this sweatshirt has a contrast back panel and raglan sleeves. The textured finish is a result of a reversed fabric, making this a little more intriguing than a classic sweatshirt. This sweatshirt does all the talking, so all you’d need to wear with it is a t-shirt, trousers and trainers for a look that says ‘I’m not going to rub it in your face that I look good, but…..I look good’.
1. THE KOOPLES ZIP JACKET
This zip jacket in top-of-the-range lambskin suede adds a trendy touch to the male city wardrobe. The contrast stitching and western inspired panels make this a super sophisticated take on the 1970’s trend.
Not just for sailors or cowboys, the Bandana is a casual way to add a little something extra to your look. Team with a denim shirt, suede jacket and wool wide legged trousers. A bandana also looks great when worn with tailored pieces such as a suit teamed with a more casual shoe.
3. JIGSAW CHECK CORD SHIRT
Because it isn’t the 70’s without a little bit of corduroy. Step away from the brown cord trousers and head to Jigsaw to pick up this beautiful slim fit check shirt. Team with Selvedge jeans and tan brogues.
