LCM: London Collections Men hit the city again this weekend, showcasing the very best in British talent and design. Spring Summer 2016 looks set to be a real game-changer for trends. There doesn’t seem to be one particular trend that fashion houses leaned towards the most. Colour palettes are both bold and muted, prints are both classic and wild and silhouettes are tailored or unstructured – it’s the season to express yourself!
I have chosen a few of my favourite looks from a few key shows that really caught my eye…
Christopher Bailey strikes again! The usual tonal colour palette of camel, navy, mustard and emerald green is used throughout the collection with the emphasis on separates and texture. Padded biker jackets worn with a shirt and tie or a delicate lace shirt for those guys feeling more adventurous. I love the idea of taking something seen as quite feminine in fashion and adding classic masculine styles to make it work.
Sarah Burton delivered a heavily nautical inspired collection. Staying true to the houses aesthetic of contrasting elements: fragility and strength. Beautifully constructed suits in co-coordinating prints will only further cement the trend for matching ‘two piece’ sets on the high street. I am in love with the mismatched stripe sweater!
Creative Director, Mehmet Ali was inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey for SS16. The tailoring houses founder designed the costumes for the movie! If you look closely you can see the inspiration through the use of symmetrical lines and an air of ‘flight’ to the collection. Practical outerwear in neon shades are popped over beautifully constructed suits and carefully curated accessories bring monochrome looks to life. Think statement pieces for the modern gentleman.
Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh my! SS16 sees Coach fully embracing bright and bold prints. Animals prints are layered with psychedelic prints for a unique look. I am in love with the contrast panel bomber jacket and sandals combo!
I love these effortlessly cool looks from the E.Tautz collection. I am getting real 50’s vibes from some of the looks – in particular the first and second above! There will definitely be a few pieces going into my wardrobe next Spring.
