Menswear Tutorials

I’m a real fan of ‘High/Low’ dressing and when I say this to people, they sometimes look a little confused, ‘Highlow, who’s that?’ is often the response. It’s a term that is commonly used in the world of womenswear.

High/Low is creating a balance between casual and formal, new and old through the styling of your clothes and accessories. The aim is to look as impeccable as possible with as very little effort. For example, taking a pair of incredibly distressed jeans and teaming with a cashmere rollneck and Christian Louboutin boots.

Below are some examples I’ve put together to give you an idea how to go about carrying out this trend:

High Low Trend Menswear Suit Trainers Sneakers

Whistles – Deconstructed Blazer
Whistles – Slim Fit Tailored Trousers
Tod’s – Suede and Tweed Trainers
Reiss  – Flecked T-shirt

I like when a suit is worn with t-shirts and trainers. A knitted t-shirt and refined pair of trainers is great approach to the high/low trend.

PRPS – Fury Jeans
APC – Single Breasted Overcoat
Sunspel – Merino Rollneck
Christian Louboutin – Antonio Calf Boots

The look above mixed distressed jeans with the ‘high’ emphasis being on the structured outerwear, soft merino roll neck and soft calf boots. The look is casual, yet on the right side of smart.
