Double denim. It’s a trend that many are wary, unsure of and surprisingly upset by!
Often seen as the uniform of choice for cowboys or the uncool, double denim has turned into one of the biggest trends again for Autumn. Designers sent blue hues in the masses down the catwalk, teamed with Shearling jackets making the seventies cool once again.
So, you know me, I like to give most of the trends a go and love the colour blue. I find there are several ways to approach the double denim trend:
- Opposites – Wear a light shirt with darker jeans (and visa versa)
- Matching – The trickiest one to perfect out of all three (it’s all in the fit and accessories!)
- Monochrome – Who said denim had to be blue? Sleek, modern and refined.
I opted for the ‘opposites’ approach, teaming a soft chambray work shirt with selvedge jeans and a faux-leather shearling lined jacket.
And do you know what? Nobody stared, pointed or giggled at my outfit. Quite the opposite, I was stopped by two Japanese street style photographers! The world looks good in blue.
