When it comes to skin care and products, it’s pretty fair to say I’ve tried quite a lot of those available on the market – ranging from the affordable high street brands to the high-end specialists to find those products that suit my skin. It’s been a trialling 10 years but I feel now as I start to creep closer to being 30, I understand my skin and what it’s crying out for more.
People have always been very complimentary on my complexion which is fortunately mostly down to my genes (and luck?) – I’ve never suffered from outbreaks of spots or discolouration but the occasional dry spell in the T-zone area.
Here are the products I have been using recently resulting in visible results in a matter of days:
This sheer, quick-absorbing cream contains a blend of sweet almond, olive fruit and jojoba seed oils to condition and nourish the skin. It restores the rhythms for almost all skin conditions.
I have a dry T-Zone, whereas quite a lot of people suffer from oily skin in these areas. I find quite a lot of moisurisers and creams too heavy for my skin resulting in the area becoming greasy looking and not being absorbed. Since using the Day Cream, I have noticed the problematic areas fade and have had compliments about a ‘glow’ to my face!
We all know sleep is vital in healing and repairing your body and mind. Our skin also goes through a period of regeneration, the most visible effects are on the face – after a day of changing temperatures the skin becomes dehydrated and dull.
A small dab of this massaged into the face before bed will tone all skin conditions for a fresh, radiant complexion come morning. The serum isn’t too oily and heavy and smells wonderfully refreshing.
Purifying Exfoliant Paste
I’ve used various exfoliators and have found that some are too gritty and sharp, leaving my skin feeling raw and sensitive whilst others are underwhelming in their ingredients and feel mostly like a face wash.
Aesop’s exfoliant is in a paste formulated from fine river bed Quartz and a mild Lactic Acid. It is easy to apply and leaves the skin feeling immaculately cleansed, polished and super-soft. I noticed an immediate “glow” to my skin after the very first use!
B & Tea Balancing Toner
This alcohol-free blend – named for its inclusion of Provitamin B5 (a form of Panthenol) and Green Tea extract – contains fortifying anti-oxidants to balance skin, refine pores and ready skin for hydration. A couple of drops of this after exfoliating and cleansing your face will leave your face feeling fresh, light and renewed. I also use this as a little pick me up during the day if I am at home and don’t want to go through all three steps of cleansing!
L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic X-Treme Black Charcoal Face Wash
This is one of my favourite go-to daily products to use on my skin. I’ve used a few higher priced face washes and they haven’t come anywhere close to the results I see with L’Oreal’s charcoal face wash.
On application it acts like a magnet on the skin to capture & get rid of dirt (impurities, excess sebum and pollution) and helps fight 5 problems that can be caused by daily city grime:
- Enlarged pores
Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1
With the weather throwing everything it has at us, the lips normally take the brunt of it all as they are super sensitive to changes in the temperature and in our immune systems. I work in an environment where the air-conditioning is always on which dries my lips out incredibly quickly.
Kiehl’s lip balm is soothing and leaves dry lips feeling soft and supple after a short amount of time. As an added bonus it also contains SPF 4, making it perfect to apply on hot holidays without burning your lips!
