ALL OUT 90’S

This summer get ready to revisit the 90’s as oversized logos, bleached out denim and cropped tops make a comeback in a huge way. Whilst I am an avid supporter of the more minimal Scandi way of styling, I am completely drawn to this trend. Perhaps its because I grew up in the 1990’s and pop culture icons around me were dressed this way – Britney, Destiny’s Child, Snoop, N*Sync… there is an extreme play on proportions, wearing an oversized sweatshirt and cutting it into a crop top or wearing low-slung jeans with a sneaky flash of underwear.

I get it. This trend isn’t for everyone. For those who wore these styles the first time round will probably look back with fond nostalgia, whilst the new generations of adolescents and twenty-some things will embrace it with open arms.

Here are my recommendations on adding a bit of the 90’s to your seasonal wardrobe:

Tommy Jeans by Tommy Hilfiger have created a unisex collection comprised of pieces from their archives, updated for a 21st century take on the era. Choose one of their infamous logo t-shirts and chop the hem a couple of centimetres across the bottom to show the waistband of your underwear.

Levi’s 501 Jeans & Trucker Jacket The inventor of jeans and all-round “American Cool” Levi’s are your go-to brand for nailing the double denim trend. Start with a pair of iconic 501 straight-leg jeans, shown here in “Light Broken-in” and team with a denim trucker jacket.

Calvin Klein pants & logo tees Accepted as the go-to brand for great underwear, Calvin Klein tops the charts when it comes to logo underwear. Their ‘CK’ logo t-shirts and sweatshirts are also a must have when buying into this trend.

What are your thoughts on this trend? Did you do it the first time round or are you a newcomer to the 90’s? Let me know on Twitter and in the comments section below.
