Timberland was founded over forty years ago and began with the yellow boot. An American icon, up there with blue jeans and plaid shirts – The boot has graced the feet of rap stars, rock gods and beyond. To celebrate the release of the new Timberland 6 inch premium boots, FootAsylum reached out to me and asked me to show how I style my Timberland boots of choice.
I’ll be honest with you – and I know I’m not alone in thinking this, when I think of Timberland boots I imagine a guy in ripped jeans, a checked shirt tied around his waist and puffa jacket with a faux fur trim… however, this was just my personal perception to the brand and more often than not, we can make a snap judgement about a brand based on a memory or idea. I decided to go ahead and road test the new boots, after all, these boots have been treading the boards for over four decades so there must be more than meets the eye…
A more refined, subtle approach is taken to the design of this icon. I chose an all black version to test out as not only is black the most practical for the weather this time of year, they will also go nicely with around 95% of my wardrobe!
Normally when I buy a pair of shoes, I walk away with my toes a little cramped and with the heel rubbing for a couple of weeks. Me and well fitting shoes are never a match made in heaven… until now. Slipping on the boots for their first outing, I was pleasantly surprised with how cushioned the sole of the boots felt immediately. After walking around town for a good few hours the boots began to rub slightly on my ankles – most likely due to having them done up so tightly and not being used to wearing a proper boot! Over time I’m sure this will soften even more and become my new go-to boots when the weather calls for them. Sensible and stylish does exist. I have to say, I am mega impressed with how versatile the boots are too when putting them on with different pieces in my wardrobe.
So guys, if you’ve been holding out on a pair of Timberlands (or “Tims” as they are affectionately known as) or comfortable boots – get onto FootAsylum and order yourself a pair. Your feet will thank you for it!
