GROOMING LIFESTYLE

DECIEM – THE ABNORMAL SKINCARE COMPANY.

If you have never heard of DECIEM before, allow me to fill you in a little bit about who they are. Founded in 2003 by Brandon Truaxe, DECIEM exists to create beauty brands with one mission common amongst them: to marry function, design and authenticity. Extensive scientific research is carried out to solve a skincare problem rather than ‘cover it up’ or mildly treat them. Hence the fancy sciencey sounding names on the bottles of their products. They now have over 10 brands under their umbrella, each delivering a different focus and level of treatment.

The cheeky little monkey’s over at DECIEM were kind enough to send me some of their products to try out. Having recently used their skincare products in collaboration with The White Company and looking at their website I was definitely up for putting a few serums and solutions to the test! What I found really appealing was all of their products are cruelty-free, vegan and a majority nut free too. So all good stuff!

NIOD DECIEM ABNORMAL SKINCARE COMPANY PHOTOGRAPHY FLUID PHOTOSHOP SKIN LIFESTYLE BLOG BLOGGER REVIEW BOYINBRETON.COM BOY IN BRETON

This product is a game-changer. Big time. If you are a fellow blogger or selfie addict, this little bottle of Photography Fluid is going to blow you away! This pearlescent serum is like real-life Photoshop. Seriously. It refracts light in thousands of directions to create an immediately-noticed even tone to the skin. A hue corrector blacks out red tones and minimizes undesirable yellow ones for skin that looks instantly better in life and on camera. Ultra-fine super-blurring suspension uses fine prisms to create a systematic confusion of a perfect-looking skin surface and to reduce the look of pores immediately.

Apply instead of or under liquid foundation to balance out undesirable colour tones and skin imperfections. I have used this little bottle of magic on a couple of occasions and each time that I have people have commented on how I ‘have a glow’ and ‘your skin looks dewy and perfect’.

NIOD DECIEM ABNORMAL SKINCARE COMPANY FRACTIONATED EYE CONTOUR CONCENTRATE DARK CIRCLES ELASTICITY SKIN LIFESTYLE BLOG BLOGGER REVIEW BOYINBRETON.COM BOY IN BRETON

Out of all skin problems and concerns, dark circles and sulleness has got to be one of the most common issues that people want to rectify. Sometimes genetics predetermine how heavily set your eyes are and how dark the circles will be but there is some hope! Drink water – lots of it and get some proper sleep. Add in the Fractionated Eye-Contour Concentrate to see some visible results within a matter of only a few days!

I added the FECC into my morning and nightly routine and saw results after five days. The skin under my eyes certainly looks plumper and less tired. On application the liquid instantly feels refreshing and the eyes feel awake! Out of all products I’ve tried to tackle this problem, NIOD’s little bottle delivers huge results.

HYLAMIDE SENSITIVE SKIN REDNESS TIPS SKINCARE LIFESTYLE BLOG BLOGGER REVIEW BOYINBRETON.COM BOY IN BRETON

On first glance Hylamide can be a little off-putting with the chemical labelled clear as day and not hidden in teeny tiny writing on the reverse of the bottle. So what is it? It’s a specialised calming complex designed to reduce redness and skin sensitivity.

If you’ve red some of my other skincare related posts you’ll know that I have quite a lot of redness in my cheeks, even when I am not embarrassed or hot! So I was eager to give this product a go. Designed to be used with twice daily with moisturiser, I use a few drops in the morning and evening. The face feels tingly in a relaxing way, revived almost and tighter for a few hours. After a week of use I noticed that redness in my cheeks seemed less aggressive and neutralised. I’m sure with continued use over the next few weeks I will see further progress with the results.

The Ordinary Multifunctional Brightening skincare skin bright clear TIPS SKINCARE LIFESTYLE BLOG BLOGGER REVIEW BOYINBRETON.COM BOY IN BRETON

The Ordinary is an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies. The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity of the products. It brightens the skin tone while visibly improving the evenness of skin texture and reducing the look of blemishes. It is a multi-functional support ingredient for all skin types and also acts as an effective antioxidant. This formula offers a very high 10% concentration of high-purity Azelaic Acid in a lightweight cream-gel system.

I have seen some great results from adding this to my face before a normal moisturiser in the morning and night. The cream is quite thick and a little goes a long way on application! I work a lot of early mornings and usually end up going to bed pretty late which has a massive impact on my skin. Generally speaking, I have quite clear skin apart from a couple of blemishes and the odd day where it looks a little sad and dull. This treatment has definitely put the wow factor back into my complexion after only a couple of uses! Teamed with the NIOD Photography Fluid I’ve achieved some knockout results!

In all honesty, the team at DECIEM have really created brands that get to the root of some skincare problems and work from the inside to solve them. The product names can be a little confusing and off putting at first, but have a look around on their site and if you’re in London at any point be sure to pop into their first store in Spitalfields Market for a hug and a chat!
