I’m an advocate of easy, simplistic dressing.
The ‘4 ITEMS SERIES’ aims to give you quick and affordable styling ideas for many different scenarios and will sometimes focus on a certain wardrobe category. As we are really starting to get into the autumn/winter mood, I thought it would be best for the second post in the series to focus on coats!
In this post I’ll show you how to put together a perfectly polished look with only a handful of items.
The Chesterfield coat has been around since roughly 1840. Since then it has gone on to be on the most revered styles for both men and women, as it is extremely versatile with ways to wear it. My favourite style at the moment is this luxurious cashmere and wool blend from Gloverall. Teamed with a soft merino roll neck, olive green trousers and a pair of handsome brogue boots, this look is perfect for seeing you through any occasion in the colder months ahead.
With its origins stemming from military garb, the Mackintosh aka ‘Mac’ is a timeless wardrobe classic. I’ve chosen to team this expertly tailored Reiss mac with a denim shirt, pinstripe joggers and sneakers for a nonchalant air of casual perfection.
The Peacoat has always been a firm favourite in my wardrobe. It surpasses trends and has stood the test of time with its nautical roots (ever noticed how most peacoats feature buttons with anchors on?). This compact wool offering from JIGSAW will see you through the winter without compromising on style. I have teamed with a classic pinstripe shirt, grey tailored trousers and black leather boots for a sophisticated look overall.
