Spring is within reaching distance and that means it’s time for a spring clean around the home and your wardrobe.

In this post I’ll share a handful of hero items that I believe every guy show own. They are the jigsaw pieces that slot together perfectly to make the ideal capsule wardrobe for Spring/Summer and will see you through anything and everything that life throws at you.

Gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to your new wardrobe edit.

Breton top A Breton top is the mainstay of any wardrobe. Worn dressed down with chinos and a denim jacket or a little smarter under a navy suit, this is one style that is going to be worn in many different ways.

Grey roll neck A roll neck is a must-have for any discerning gentleman. There are a multitude of ways to wear this style: With jeans and loafers for a smart/casual feel or with a suit for an unexpected yet modern take on wearing tailoring.

Black Tshirt Effortlessly cool, sometimes the simplest of items can be the most stylish. Layer under a leather jacket with jeans for a Marlon Brando-esque feel or team with checked tailored trousers and loafers for a dressed up vibe. Also pick up a white and grey t-shirt too for your collection of wardrobe basics.

Chambray shirt Not your typical denim shirt. The Chambray shirt is a smarter, lightweight option that works well with most things in your wardrobe. Wear over a breton top and with black chinos and white sneakers for a fail-proof take on easy going dressing.

Green Overshirt This nimble little number looks great when teamed with a grey sweatshirt, jeans and Converse for a simple yet stylish dressed down look. Layer it with a grey roll neck, checked trousers and boots for a sharp look.

Crew Neck Jersey Sweatshirt A piece that will probably become one of your favourite go-to’s, the sweatshirt is stylish as it is practical. Wear with anything and everything!

Denim Jacket The denim jacket soon becomes like a close friend. It can be worn on those sunnier days over a t-shirt with shorts or worn layered under a coat for extra warmth and visual interest. It’s one of those pieces that looks better with age as it softens and wrinkles to your body movements!

Black Chinos Not the most exciting options in your wardrobe but an essential one. Black chinos go with everything and can take you from the desk to dinner without any cause for concern.

Single Breasted Mac A stylish and workable garment, the Mackintosh or “Mac” is not only great for keeping the rain at bay, it also looks incredibly smart too. Add texture and warmth on those rainy days by wearing over a denim jacket.

Sand Chinos You really can’t go too wrong with sand tone chinos, especially in those summer months. A great alternative to grey and still neutral to wear with most other colours.

Leather Jacket A real investment for your wardrobe, choose a leather jacket that fits beautifully and is hardwearing. Buttery soft leathers feel incredible but can only be worn on very special occasions where the fear of snagging is minimal. A bomber jacket style is great as it lends itself to most outfit options whereas a biker style can look a little “themed”

White Shirt The hero of your wardrobe! The white shirt really does just go with anything. A pair of jeans and sneakers? Looks great. Worn with checked trousers and a denim jacket? Super stylish? Of course, it looks impeccable under a suit too. It might be worth buying a couple of white shirts – just as a precaution!

Jeans A firm favourite amongst men and women world-over, jeans are probably the most iconic garment of all time. Choose a dark one-wash pair that look great so they can be worn for smarter events as well as those well earned days-off.

What pieces do you already have in your wardrobe? Is there anything you are missing and will be adding after reading this post? Let me know by leaving a comment! Until the next post guys!
