It can feel a little unceremonious splashing out on a candle and then promptly lighting it. I know I’m not alone when I say I have several people in my life who keep candles for “something special” and never light them because they hate the idea of burning something so lovely. Yes, I suppose a candle technically is like burning money but a candle can create such a wonderful atmosphere with its scent and gentle glow.
What really does offend me though is when people don’t take care of their candles – now that is a cause for concern, particularly when they’ve purchase (or have been gifted) a luxury candle and don’t know how to care properly for it. Blackened vessels and flickering flames are the most common mistakes when not knowing how to care correctly for your candles. Much like purchasing a cashmere jumper, extra care is required to maximise its lifespan.
In this post I’ll share with you a few easy steps to caring for your candles, maybe print this out or send the link to your friends and family who are hesitant to light that special candle that’s been in their cupboard for months.
I hope you found this post useful and can now enjoy burning your lovely candles with less guilt! Can you think of any other top tips I’ve missed out? Comment above and let me know what you think.
